Our Mission

The Coraopolis Police Department is committed to protect and serve through fairness, compassion and excellence while providing police services in accordance with the law and sensitive to the priorities and needs of the community.

The Coraopolis Police Department services the Borough of Coraopolis which is located in Allegheny County located in southwestern Pennsylvania approximately 1.2 square miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The Borough covers a population of over 6,000.

The Coraopolis Police Department is a small to mid‐size police department which consists of 14 sworn law enforcement officers. The department employs several civilian support personnel which includes a full time dispatch center.

The Coraopolis Police Department performs many specialized duties and offers expanded services to the community. Most officers of the department have advanced training in varying fields. The department strives to seek out and provide additional training to its officers in a continuing effort to improve the effectiveness of its operations.

The department participates in joint law enforcement efforts including the West Hills DUI Task Force, United States Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force, Allegheny County District Attorney Narcotics Enforcement Team, SHACOG CIRT (Critical Incident Response Team), SHACOG Crash Reconstruction Team, SHACOG Support Team, and cooperative efforts with many other agencies. The department participates in a wide variety of community policing activities including, but not limited to Cornell School District SRO’s (School Resource Officer), Park and Walk (a school walk through program), vacant home and business security checks, D.A.R.E, and department tours.
